Hiatus, and the STOP acronym

Life’s events and occurrences truck along, sometimes, at a snails pace. But then, there are times when, it appears, they seem to grow exponentially, gathering steam until one day you realize, the road you have been traversing has twisted into a rollercoaster.

Injuries, injustices, drama, a cascading social schedule, kids, bills, household and car issues; they all seem to feed off of one another, creating a vessel that speeds along it’s rails, going around and around, up and down and it feels like, there is no way off. The thing about Rollercoasters is, as fast as they can go, some of them up to 149 km/hour, and as thrilling as they can be, all they do is go in circles. They are unproductive vehicles which serve no other purpose then to leave your head spinning, and then every once in a while, they come off their rails.

In 1930, Omaha Nebraska, a train of cars on the Big Dipper Rollercoaster, came off it’s rails and fell 35 feet to the ground, killing 4 people and injuring another 17. It was considered, and still is today, as the worst amusement park accident in US history. During the investigation, it was found that the crash was caused when a nut slipped loose from its bolt, permitting the brake shoe to settle on the track and derail the front car. This car then dragged the following three cars into a 35-foot plunge.

Along the road of life; mine specifically, because I am no expert on anyone else’s, it would be imperative that one stops every now and then to examine themselves and ask some important questions: Where are you going? Who are you going there with? And what is the condition of the vessel you are travelling in; are there any loose bolts that need to be tightened, before your brake shoe settles onto the track and derails you? Often too, as you have picked up a momentum of unproductive habits, the kinetic force of movement is difficult to slow down, never mind stop completely. But you must try, because the resulting carnage of not stopping could end you up in a heap of trouble.

As each country in the world, Canada specifically, continues it’s siege on the rights and liberties of it’s citizens, trying to stifle human progress so that we become more dependent on the Government and less on ourselves; it is my duty to repel the trend and to continue to find ways to move forward independently. In order to do so, now more than ever, I must stop, think, observe and plan.

I have been handed many opportunities and ideas over the last year, many by caring friends, others I have come up with myself, yet, I’ve done nothing except continue to gather distraction after distraction. It is human nature to distract oneself with things that feel good in lieu of important things that move you forward and there are entities out there who recognize this and they exploit it. It is why Liquor and Cannibus distribution is up by 30-40% and why the Government has such as strong hold on this industry. They are not only reliable tax revenue sources but, in my opinion, they also provide further control over the minds and hearts of a nations populous. A numbed and distracted population, fed with just the right dose of media propaganda can be shifted and moved, almost at will. We see this everywhere.

It is time to take a little brain hiatus and sign off social media for a few days, so I can gather my thoughts and then come back with a whole new adventure. Like “postcards from the west” I want to continue to emulsify people through memories and stories, but I also want to look forward and find ways to solidify our purpose as a nation, and charge forward with a renewed mission bring back everything we loved about our country and, hopefully, help reinstate some of the values and the constitutions which created the foundation of our cherished land.

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion”
